Harley's Road Trip!
Harley's Road Trip!
As the DEAD EX tour continues to take our Harley all over the country, we thought you'd like to see her in action. How about this one of Nancie the Gun Tart, Harley and Twist Phelan (who has a new book coming out in September!) at Poisoned Pen:
And here's one of Harley with author Heather Graham (check out BLOOD RED, in stores now!) at Books and Books in Coral Gables:
Or this one of William and Donna "The Boss" Simon with Harley at Murder By the Book in Houston:
And here is another TLC regular - Susan S with Harley in Seattle at the Mystery Bookshop
And finally, Harley with her niece, Andrea Kozak at Portland's Murder by the book.
Here's an online interview with Harley, too.
Okay, I admit it: When I go on book tour, I tend to wear the same two outfits over and over and over. And here's Harley looking stunning as she plugs DEAD EX--in someting different every night. What a champ!

Great photos - and I apologize that they do not line up with the appropriate text. Mr. Typepad and I are still having words about it. My words are not nice words.
Anyway - how cool to see some faces for such familiar names.
Nancie the Gun Tart - I Love your hair that way. I mean it. Heard you had a great time with Harley.
And there is The Boss - aka Mrs. William Simon. Hi Boss!
Susan S - nice to 'meet' you - now I know who is making all those great comments.
We really should try to figure out a way to get everyone together.
Next years' RT Convention is here in Pittsburgh...was that a big enough hint?
Harley - you look wonderful! Looks like you are having a terrific tour!

Hey Rebecca thanks for the hair compliment! Believe it or not, that’s not a perm, it’s all me. I just quit fighting the curls about a week ago.
Harley looked wonderful, and I had a great time while she was here. I only tried to drop her at the wrong hotel once, so I’m going to assume my first stint as escort wasn’t a total screw up. She did inquire if we had the heater running in the parking garage at the airport when she arrived. Heh-heh, nope, even at midnight it’s still over a hundred degrees. Welcome to Phoenix Harley!

Yes, Harley, you look wonderful. Lucky TLCers who got to meet you!
And your niece is just adorable!

Send more details on that Pittsburgh conference. I like Pittsburgh! When the Storytelling Conference was there, we had a wonderful opening night -- at the Children's Museum! It was waaaay too much fun!

Harley looks better living out of a suitcase than I do just home from the stylist, with my full wardrobe at hand. I hate her. ;-)

Thanks, guys!
Nancie the Gun Tart is now turning in her guns for a Professional Media Escort badge. While I was never certain we'd get to the hotel (I think it was called the Firestarter Resort) I was always confident that we wouldn't be murdered or even mugged on her watch.

Great photos, great interview, GREAT BOOK!!!!! FYI, for those who read the Hailey Lind interview on the same page, I recommend her/their books very highly.
When is RT? Pittsburgh isn't that far from here . . .

Um Harley, I’m not giving up the guns, even if it means I can’t add another badge to the collection, especially after meeting that ‘very interesting’ person Wednesday. People like that reaffirm the reason to carry everywhere I go, ya just never know who or what you’re going to run into out there.
As for the driving error, it was only one slight detour in our travels, and I figure since we were at the resort next door to the Firesky I was close enough. And here I thought getting you to an address off the beaten path, and to a place I’ve never been before, without any directions or turning around once would validate my navigational skills.

Shucks, I knew I should've brought my camera. Harley did a bookstore bus tour in San Diego last week. I caught up with Harley and the tour at the Mysterous Galaxy stop (my favorite bookstore). I had a previous engagement and was unable to go on the all day tour. Looks like it would be fun. Though, dangerous. I don't know how I could resist buying at each bookstore stop! Maybe next year...
Anyway, it was great seeing Harley. She fielded some interesting questions and time ran out so I didn't get the chance to ask "Picard or Riker?"

Do I recall seeing Harley in some kind of Star Trek-like uniform at one point in her career? Somebody help me out here.

Nancy, I did do a movie called Dark Planet. I wore some kind of cheesy space jumpsuit. Could that be it?
Posted by: Harley | August 26, 2007 at 03:52 PM
Yea, Michael York did mean things to Harley in "Dark Planet." Too Bad Nancie a.k.a. Gun Tart was not on duty, she could have shot Michael York's ray gun with her six shooter.

Harley, it was such a treat for me meeting you at the Seattle Mystery Book Store! I loved 'Dead Ex' - you did it again - great book! Sounds like the tour was a success!
Is anyone thinking about going to Left Coast Crime? It will be in Denver - in February, I think.

Did the iTunes download — then iTunes wouldn’t work with OS 10.3 (even though it had said it would), downloaded OS 10.4 — now things seem to be working for iTunes. I’ve managed to download some of Syd Lieberman’s free stories -- http://www.sydlieberman.com/
and took songs from an album (Casey Jones’ “Every Man I Love Is Either Married, Gay, or Dead”), and I’ve even listened to some — progress!
The album loaded up as Track 1 – 13, no names for the songs or the album — I foresee a problem with that, so there must be a solution?? I wish my niece lived in St. Louis!

Updated the map page to use Google maps. You can now link right to Google maps and enter your address for directions, zoom in and out, use the terrain setting or satellite setting.
