Summer Songs!
By Kathy Reschini Sweeney, who needs to lighten up!
It's a music blog, and may I say even if no one else needs one, I do!
I know it's not even Memorial Day (I already have that mix done from last year) but the weather has been screaming summer since...March. I blame Dick Cheney.
Time to put together the ultimate Summer Song mix!! I have done a half a dozen of these over the years, but this year, we are going to make one that totally kicks ass.
Here are just a FEW songs to get you started:
Summer Wind by Frank Sinatra
Beyond the Sea by George Benson (yes, I know. I like Benson's cover better.)
Here Comes the Sun by Richie Havens
I'm Alright by Kenny Loggins (nothing says summer like the classic "Caddyshack")
Soak up the Sun by Cheryl Crow
Now it's your turn - what songs are audio cues for you that say: SUMMER!
I have never seen Caddyshack. I blame Dick Cheney.
Doing the Unstuck by The Cure. It's chipper. Really.

"Build me up, Buttercup" or "Beach Baby". Summer oldies but goodies from the Southern beach tradition!

I'm a native Californian, so it's anything by the Beach Boys, Jan & Dean, etc.
Also, anything from the Summer of Love, because I was there.

Maryann, Red Rubber Ball, and Summer in the City were my sister's and my favorite songs in the summer. One of the very few things we ever really shared, so they always evoke good memories for me.
