Congratulations to all of you!! You are an inspiration! -- and provide wonderful reading material!
Part of retirement is a redefinition from "human doing" to "human being," but doing is important also. On Thursday I'm going to record a CD of seven of my favorite stories, a small project by comparision, but a big leap for me. (It is leap year . . . ;-)
Wish me luck . . .

Michele - I am picking up my copy of Notorious on Tuesday - can't wait.

Mary - VERY exciting - good luck! Is this something we'll be able to buy somewhere?

Terrific interview, Michele! You're always so erudite--no matter what the subject. And thanks for the plug for TLC. It will be interesting to see if we get any new readers from the podcast.

Hijack! OKay, I have a new computer that runs Vista. Every day, I sit down at the desk to discover I've gotten yet another "update" overnight. Today, the powers that be decided that my screen settings didn't suit their taste, so all my winders are very small, and the fonts are unreadable. (I'm nearly blind and always have my View set on "LARGEST" but today everything's tiny. Can anybody give me some pointers on how to make my windows bigger? I've used the little box at the top right of the screen--no dice. And I've got the "View" set on "Largest," of course. But I'm still peering at the screen like Mrs. Magoo. Help, anyone??

Windows. Yeesh, see how blind I am??

Nancy-

Had I known you were shopping, I'd have talked you into a Mac...:)

or you can order windows XP from Tiger Direct for $139

Good job ladies :) Looking forward to all the latest installments. Michele, after reading the first two chapters, I can't wait to read the rest. Nancy, you're the reason I discovered TLC, and I've been waiting on pins and needles for Murder Melts -- it's so close now I can almost taste it! I'm sure Harley and Sarah's next works will be fabulous as well. And of course, it goes without saying that Elaine's Agatha nod is well deserved. Keep writing girls -- your books are a large part of what makes life happy :)

Nancy, I can't wait for your new book to come out. I plan on buying it first thing Tuesday morning. I ordered Michele's Notorious & Sarah's Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty & Wives books from amazon.com. For some reason the books were split up & I've already received Sarah's books. I started with The Secret Lives of Fortunate Wives & am enjoying it thoroughly. It's a really fun read. Now if only Michele's book would get here, then I'd have books by all the TLC'ers.

Nancy -- about your font sizes. That happened to me too, but I still have Windows XP. I had to ZOOM the page to increase the size of my display until I found a solution. (Zoom is under the View item on the toolbar in Windows XP.)

If you've already tried the following, sorry to be redundant. But if you haven't, maybe one of them can help solve your problem.

I googled your issue & was able to find two different ways to handle a font change. The first is the basic -- how to change fonts in VISTA:

http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/help/bdc9d003-777b-4b1e-9664-2957f50870bd1033.mspx

The next font change problem had occurred when a guy's Clear-Type setting had been turned off. Here's his solution:

"Ok it seems I have fixed the problem. For some reason ClearType was turned off for Windows Aero, and after going to Appearance Settings -> Effects, I enabled ClearType and everything looks normal now."

The following link is to a webpage at Microsoft that explains the new Aero enhancement:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowsvista/features/experiences/aero.mspx

Good luck figuring all this out & I hope your usual fonts are restored soon!

BTW...Nancy, I saw the new paperback version of A Crazy Little Thing Called Death today at Barnes & Nobles. The books were in a portable display sitting right in the middle of a well-traveled aisle in the store. Only four authors' new paperbacks were highlighted: yours, Victoria Laurie, Laura Childs & another well-known author whose name escapes me right now. :-)

In the same B&N, Michele's Notorious is front & center on the very first table customers see entering the store!

Thanks for the reports, Becky! How fun. And thanks, one and all, for your support. I love the TLC community.

Can't wait to read the rest of your book, Michele. I have a long plane trip coming up, too. Congratulations.

Beckie, you are a saint. I am weeping with gratitude. On all fronts.

Katherine C---big kisses to you!!

Kathy, thanks for your very wonderful question -- I don't know how soon I'll have it finished, but when I do, I'll let you know what I manage to set up for purchasing (besides the obvious, which would be straight from me). mgarrett@mail.win.org
I have put up a web page listing also . . .

It's late (been out of town for several days), but maybe this will help on the font issue.

If you have a mouse with a scroll, just hold down the CTL key and roll the scroll wheel up or down. It will globally change all your screen fonts. Very handy little trick.
