Terrific article, Michele. And a wonderful contrast between City Living and Country Living.
Now...about this Home-made pizza of yours....:)

Interesting thoughts on personal style affected by environment. I'm more and more going for comfort and practicality (the latex allergy limits choices anyway), but I think you should do whatever makes YOU feel good. Then the group can either come along with you or recognize you for the beautiful individual you are.
Pizza, eh? Sounds good, even though I just had some of yesterday's chicken soup . . .

Hey michele, it may take me 24 hours to get activated over At Huffington, but let me comment here too :o) Consider the rustic north a cousin of the central Illinois prairie. Not quite as drastic with the graying hair...I mean we ARE a university town :o) but to someone brought up in the 'burbs of Chicago, pantyhose were a necessity. Not socks and slacks, panythose and skirts. Now, after all this time, I try to figure out how to wear my Rykas to work, and it's slacks and dress jeans for concerts and the theater. Go figure. Great post!

The pizza was delish!

Brilliant observations, as always, Michele.
Is it time for a TLC blog on the subject of Crocs, I wonder?
Posted by:Nancy Martin | January 28, 2008 at 09:12 PM
Oh, yeah, Crocs are big up here. I managed to forget them because they disappear while there is snow on the ground (which is about six months a year.)

Great Huffington piece, Michele. I tried to post, and am now waiting for my comments to be "approved." Ha.
Can you imagine if that was required here?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

I can think of a few Blond Bondisms that might not have made it.

Hey, Michele -- great post! I've been baffled by fashion all my life. I've sort of known what "the look" was at any given time, but for most of that time I either didn't have the body, didn't have the money, or didn't have the patience to comply. I still don't have the money or the patience, my Northern California hippy-wannabe sensibility continuing to insist on comfort at all times, but I have reached a point where I do have some choices in clothes that look good.
Fortunately, my job comes with no dress code (the beauty of being a Biology professor instead of, say, a law professor). I've finally developed a new look that I enjoy, that fits in, and that is comfortable: good quality boot-cut jeans/cords, cowgirl boots (my first pairs ever!!!), and tops appropriate for the season. Who ever knew I'd have fun with clothes?????

Are we related Kerry? Since I no longer work, I don't need clothes for court. Not much into the dating scene, so forget the 'dress-up clothes.
The only thing I like about winter is wearing sweats (and not having to wear a bra!)
When I have to run errands, it's boot cut jeans, leather coat, and my Tony Lama boots.
